
“Echoes of Beauty: Music of Ancient China” is divided into eight volumes according to the eight-tone classification method of ancient Chinese musical instruments based on different production materials: "gold, stone, earth, leather, silk, wood, gourd, and bamboo". It selects sixty ancient musical instruments and tells readers about the origin, development and aesthetic significance of ancient Chinese musical instruments from four perspectives: instrument shape, historical background, manufacturing technology, and literature and art. It interprets the relationship between heaven and earth, human relations, the five elements and solar terms, as well as the unique emotional context and philosophical thinking of the Chinese people contained in musical instruments from the perspectives of music and literature, art and history.
